The Night We Met

Sigma Alpha Mu's annual Halloween party on 6th Street in Austin, Texas - Jenn was dressed as Britney Spears and Evan was dressed as the Hulk. We can't say it was love at first sight because we can't say we remember most of that night!

The Night "We" Began

A small group of friends took a trip to the West Coast for a week-long vacation in Carmel, CA. We started the trip as great friends and left the trip as a little something more...

New Beginnings

Jenn made the move to Houston for Law School and maybe just a little for Evan... Meanwhile, Evan started traveling every week for work but spent his weekends "living" at Jenn's apartment.

Labor Day Weekend

The Day She Knew

After spending Labor Day weekend with Evan, his family and friends in Galveston, Evan left for Santa Fe for work and Jenn left knowing that one day she was going to marry Evan Varadi!

Jenn's Proposal Story

After a couple of long weeks of work, I was ready to have one day off to relax. Evan suggested we take a 24 hour mini-vacation to Austin - without hesitating I agreed. For extra convincing (not that he needed it) Evan told me his Marriott points were expiring and we needed to use them or lose them. I must have stopped listening after being told we were going to Austin - Marriott points don't expire!

The week before we left, Evan asked me if I wanted to take a tour of DKR. I had been to the trophy room and on the field before, but I didn't want to prevent him from having the same experience - besides, I could never pass up an opportunity to be on the field where my favorite team plays!

When we got into Austin it was pouring rain. I assumed that after the stadium tour we didn't have any plans, so I started sending out texts and phone calls, much to Evan's persistence to wait until after the tour to plan the rest of our day.

When we got to the stadium, we were handed swag bags with ponchos inside. Seeing as how it was about to start pouring and we were about to go onto the field, I tried to put my poncho on. Evan took the poncho out of my hand and refused to let me wear it (thankfully!). As we walked towards the field, through the tunnel, I wanted to turn to Evan and ask him if he was going to propose like Colt McCoy did a few years before, but stopped myself so as not to start a fight in front of our nice tour guides.

We were standing in the North endzone when Evan asked the tour guides to take pictures of us. I started to primp and prepare myself for the picture when Evan turned towards me. I took one look at him and I knew! He got down on one knee and I repeated over and over "what are you doing?!" His words were all a blur and I couldn't wait to say YES!

After the tour - which quickly became the look at the shiny ring on my finger tour - we headed to Abel's on the Lake. On the way there, Evan told me that he knew that I wanted both of our families to celebrate with us but that because of my hectic work schedule they weren't able to join us. Instead we called each person in our families individually.

When we arrived at the restaurant I thought I saw my mom's car. After much convincing, I believed Evan when he told me no one else was in Austin...until we got inside and I spotted my dad on the way to the bathroom (good timing). We hugged, we kissed, we cried and we probably screamed with excitement at least a couple of times.

THE BEST DAY EVER.

Evan's Proposal story

After Jenn took the bar, we both went to Thailand as a Post Bar Trip. She specifically told me that I was not allowed to propose while we were in Thailand! It was the first time I listened to her! After we got back, Jenn started her busy job as an Attorney. Meanwhile, I was busy planning the Engagement of a lifetime. I knew I wanted our families to be there so after much coordination I planned for all of us to come to Austin, Texas.

I reached out to Texas Athletics to see what the options were - they told me they could do a private tour of DKR and have the proposal on the Texas Football Field. I knew this would be perfect because of Jenn's love of Texas Longhorn Football. It also made sense that her favorite college football player, Colt McCoy, proposed there as well!

Jenn was working late every single night and after work, I would head to the jeweler to pick out the perfect Engagement Ring. I had no idea what I was getting myself into... so many different designs, styles, and shapes! After much consideration, I thought I picked out the perfect ring but was very nervous whether she would like it! I decided to have her meet the jeweler acting like I was there for the first time. She went through all the styles and ended up picking out the exact same ring! I told Jenn that the engagement was not happening anytime soon. Little did she know, the entire engagement was already planned... I always wanted this proposal to be unique and memorable for the rest of our lives.

It was supposed to pour on November 22, 2015 - flash flooding was expected. The proposal was happening rain or shine. We left for Austin very early in the morning. I put the ring in my pocket for what felt like longest two and half hour drive. We stopped at Hruskas for me to go to the "bathroom" but I was more nervous about the ring.

We got to Austin and Texas Athletics called me saying that we had to come early in order for me to propose on the field. The tour of the stadium was supposed to be first, however, because of the bad weather the proposal had to be pushed up. We arrived and we rushed out onto the field. I asked the photographer to take a picture of us and got down on one knee and proposed. Jenn was shocked and had no idea what was happening. She had a big smile on her face and said YES and the rest of the tour was a blur for the both of us! Afterwards, our families surprised us at Abel's on the Lake where we had a couple of drinks and celebrated!

Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her!!!
